This afternoon, my server console window was getting flooded by this message. It made it impossible to troubleshoot another problem I’m working on. It even continued flooding when no playback was happening and the server was theoretically idle. I’m not joking about flooding, I was getting thousands of this in the log in a short period, you can see from the time stamps. Rebooting seemed to resolve it, but if I hadn’t been checking console, it would have cleared my logs (if it didn’t already). What’s the cause of this particular error message? A forum search brought up nothing.

I have the same problem and could pinpoint when it happens. As soon as I open a second browser tab with https://app.plex.tv the console starts getting flooded with this “WARN - [CompanionPlayer] We already have a handler, overwriting”-Warning. It stops immediately after closing additional browser tabs. I’m using Firefox, but it happens with Edge too. It does not happen when I open the plex page in two different browsers at the same time, only when two or more tabs in one browser are open.
I have the same thing. Closing a browser tab fixed this. Really painful when im trying to debug webhook issues. continued to flood my log with nothing playing.
Server version: 1.15.3.876
Player version: 7.13.0.9583 (Pixel 3)
I have the same issue when I try to use one particular home use on android app (Tried with LG G5 and Pixel 3). The user won’t be able to see any content on the server either, but work perfectly from the web client. I only have two home users and only one of them is having this issue.
The log get flooded with this. I separated it in block to make it clearer.

The same pattern repeat in loop from one account to another like this.
I get the same message in my Plex Media Server Logs Console page of the server:
TimeMay 05, 2019 23:24:12.258
LevelWarning
Thread13032
Message[CompanionPlayer] We already have a handler, overwriting.
It just keeps showing that and I don’t know what’s causing it. Also, I noticed the server does not play videos properly…something strange in the last 2-4 Plex server updates has caused functionality to haywire a bit. Video does not show, but audio does unless I manually set playback to 720p on my old PS3.
Some videos don’t play at all. It says, “Error: Playback has stopped because the connection to the Plex Media Server has been lost. Please ensure the server is available and retry,” The last time I had this happen to me about a month back, I had to uninstall Plex Media Server and install an older archived version…for some reason things started working then. I would rather not have to randomly uninstall and reinstall an old version…I would like to keep the latest version installed as well, but I wonder if this is a bug in the most recent releases? Any thoughts, suggestions, or others with the same issue?
If anyone figured out why this handler message is coming, please reply!
In regards to the playback error and changing settings, I also figured that out. I had a youtube URL in the text entry box for the pre-roll video instead of a local file:
Settings -->
Extras -->
Movie pre-roll video
It would be cool to put a youtube URL…but, anyway, once I removed that, all my problems for playback and the server running properly went away with the new versions of Plex Media Server (PMS).
