I seem to have an issue with the hosted version of the plex-web app, opening 2 tabs to the plex web app, causes a massive increase in cpu usage.
This happens with both Chrome and Firefox, although the cpu usage is a bit less in Firefox, but not by much.
I am not sure if it’s related to this issue:
I can replicate it like so.
Open a tab in chrome and go to the hosted plex-web app
(If it is relevant, I have 3 servers, mac, synology nas and linux and it does not seem to matter which server is selected, the same happens)
With the console open in Chrome Developer tools, you will see messages like:
[Companion] Opening long poll to REDACTED at https://REDACTED.plex.direct:32400/player/proxy/poll
(fwiw if you try the link, you will get a 400 Bad Request error page, don’t know if that’s relevant)
These appear about every 10 seconds or so, which I assume is normal.
Then open another tab and go to the hosted plex-web app again
(I have plex home and did not even enter my pin on the second tab)
you will then after a very short time frame, within a few seconds you will start to see this in the console:
(1808) [Companion] Opening long poll to REDACTED at https://REDACTED:32400/player/proxy/poll
where (1808) is just an example, this number keeps rapidly increasing
and the browser will then start consuming massive cpu usage.
Closing the second tab and everything goes back to normal.
