Configurable screen lock on Roku during music playback

I use Plex Pass on Roku 2, OSX Plex Server. I have a 6 year old in the house so have disabled auto login and created a profile for him. Perfect, now he can only see appropriate material.

However, if I am in for a serious music listening session on my own, the screen keeps locking after 5 minutes. This means I have to repeatedly put in my PIN code just to change a track. I want the screen to stay on so I can look at album artwork and see what track is coming next.

Would be great if I could set the time out interval on the screen lock (just like you can with a screen saver on a PC). That way I could sit and admire the album artwork and not have to re-enter my PIN over and over.

Either that or treat music like a movie, i.e. if music is playing then don’t lock the screen at all.

There are a few things planned to better handle music on the lock screen, as well as screensavers, which may improve showing the album artwork while the lock screen is activated. With that said, there are a few things you can do now.

  • Set the screensaver timeout longer than 5 minutes. The idle lock is controlled by this. If you disabled the screensaver, the idle lock defaults to 5 minutes, otherwise, we respect the timeout.
  • You can control music with the Play/Pause, FWD and REV buttons on the roku remote while the lock screen is activated. You cannot see what you are doing, but you can control it. This is something we plan to improve.
  • You can control music from any device supporting Plex Companion. e.g. phone/tablet Plex app

ljunkie Thanks for the tips! I was searching all over on how to increase the Plex Lock Screen timeout! Not for music just in general. Is it possible to set the Plex Lock Screen timeout to a user customizable setting in the future? Like say one hour?

Hi @ljunkie,
Here is our trouble : We use Plex to display pictures on a Hisense TV screen. These are pictures of restaurant menu, so we need to have them displayed on a fixed mode for good.
We make sure that the TV screensaver timeout is deactivated. But there is an idle lock mode (black screen with Plex logo popping up) that shows up every 5 min.
Is there a solution to solve our issue?
