A large part of my Plex is used for anime content and I find it very frustrating that what I would consider basic configuration settings are not available as far as I can tell.
I want to have both movies and tv shows in one library but putting movies in a library tagged as TV means that they get shown as episodes rather than as a movie, this means that instead of the year it was released being displayed underneath it just says “1/2/3 episodes etc.”
Second to that I don’t want movies to have that annoying orange box in the corner covering the artwork telling me once again how many episodes there are (I wouldn’t want this even if it’s a TV show).
I’m not needing it to be an automated feature, just give me manual control to remove or disable these features.
Lastly a built in request feature for users of my plex would be nice since as it stands right now I have to use a workaround like Ombi to get such functionality.
You cannot actually mix different content types with Plex. However as per your example… why don’t you name your movies as tv shows?
Example:
TV Shows /
Shaun the Sheep Movies /
Season 01 /
Shaun the Sheep Movies - s01e01 - Shaun the Sheep Movie.mkv
Shaun the Sheep Movies - s01e02 - A Shaun the Sheep Movie - Farmageddon.mkv
This will show as a show “Shaun the Sheep Movies” – possibly you’ll have to unmatched it if it accidentally matches to the actual “Shaun the Sheep” tv show. The Show has 1 season with 2 episodes. Those episodes will be named Episode 1 and Episode 2 but you’ll be able to manually rename each episode and assign metadata and thumb-posters of your own.
Personally… if I’m dealing with related content of different types, I’m using same-named collections to let Plex show the content together
(the screenshot above shows how this will show from within the movie library; if you’re watching it from within the tv show library, you will see the different movies as related items respectively)
You actually only get that orange box when dealing with tv shows. It’s not the number of episodes but the number of unseen episodes. The box will be gone when all episodes have been watched or marked as watched!
One more thing…
since you’ve mixed up 3 requests in your post (btw… please don’t do that) that are partly already available or duplicate requests… are you ok to close yours to avoid distracting votes from other requests?
Mixed Libraries – manually if needed
is already possible (see post above)
no duplicate display of "number of episodes"
that’s actually the number of unseen episodes (see above)
