This might help you
So you have installed OpenVPN on your Synology NAS, and it’s acting in server mode, is that correct?
Please give a basic description of your network.
Please tell us on what platform you have PMS running.
If PMS is running on Synology, please tag your OP server-synology
The Synology FAQ is excellent.
There’s a lot of topics in remote access. But if it was working before, then the goal is to allow outside VPN clients to connect with your OpenVPN server on Synology. If they are authenticated by OpenVPN, then they will appear as another IP on your local LAN, and they will be offered the same free roam of your network to contact anything, including contacting your PMS.
Does that make sense?
I installed OpenVPN on my Synology NAS by creating a VPN profile in Network > Network Interface. Is that server mode?
I have PMS running on My Synology Diskstation DS218+ and it works fine through WAN. I have manually set up port 32400 on my router and directed Plex through it.
How do I tag my OP?
Your last paragraph does make sense, I just don’t know how to do it?
Can you click the little pencil icon in your first post to Edit it?
Then where you have tags for server-linux add another tag.
Good question
Can I back up and ask what was the goal of putting OpenVPN on the Synology?
I got ransomeware virus on my NAS that locked all my files. Luckily I had a back-up but subscribed to a VPN for better security on my NAS and PC. I also download alot of torrents.
Ahh okay. So you configured a VPN client on your synology that connects to a subscription, paid for, VPN service, like VyperVPN or something.
The link given to you by @fuzzywuzzywasawoman is perfect.
If fits your running a vpn client.
I just wanted to make sure you were not running a VPN server.
good luck
