Remote access when Synology is set up with vpn

My synology is set up with a vpn. That seems to prohibit me from accessing plex remotely. Anyway of fixing this?

There is only one way this works without standing on your left toes, in a rainstorm, holding a hot coffee in your right hand.

  1. Use only one ethernet adapter
  2. Make it the default gateway on the Syno
  3. Start the VPN
  4. Restart PMS (it will have started at boot)
  5. Now Plex.tv will see PMS at the VPN address.

PMS’s security doesn’t allow split-address operation because that could easily be a redirected / hijacked proxy / Man-in-the-middle redirection.

If you have VPN capability at the modem/router and wish to run all traffic through the VPN, this will work as well. (Site VPN)
