Confirmation email doesn't arrive

Yesterday I changed my Plex Account Mail, but even after several tries I did not receive a confirmation mail. Other mails arrive and nothing is in the spam folder :frowning:

To me it looks like you intentionally used an email address which doesn’t exist (or is only working for a limited time period).

incorrect.
I own the domain and the subdomain. The subdomain specifically is used to automatically generate logins with https://simplelogin.com/
As prooven by the info mail that someone just replied to my thread

No prove, because this email is sent by a wholly different system (the forum is hosted by another company).

It might just be that your email is already blacklisted in the main system because of failed send attempts.
I’ll have to get this investigated.

it clearly prooves that the mail address exists.

As I suspected, your email was blacklisted, because it bounced before – with SMTP errror 554 5.7.1 which normally means “relay access denied”.
It also appears that at least one of the involved servers is on a separate blacklist, which is also observed by the plex.tv systems.

My recommendation would be to simply use a regular inbox.

but the SMTP error 554.5.7.1 would be a problem with your outgoing mail server and email, not with the one accepting the mail…

@Leberschnitzel See below for explanation on the error and as you can see it’s the recipient that blocks it, not the sender

Yes, it gets blocked because their mail isn’t configured correctly:
The user sending doesn’t correspond with who the server knows is allowed to send.
And other mail servers check this and reject mail, to prevent hijacked SMTP transfer / spam.
It’s something they have to fix or I need to switch to a lower security mail (which I just did “indirectly”, so the problem is solved for me personally, but it’s still a problem on their side [and maybe the reason why they so often have problems with mails not being received]).

@Leberschnitzel

The user sending doesn’t correspond with who the server knows is allowed to send

That’s where your issue is as it will only allow certain email addresses to be received and all other mail is rejected.

error is not a plex error. The server receiving the mail responded with that. After enough bounces, servers who constantly respond with error codes get blacklisted (which is what happened to you)

If your server requires non-standard security, don’t be surprised when the rest of the internet isn’t compatible due to your non-standard configuration.

it’s not my server, it’s just my domain. The domain is configured with all the standard settings (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), and the server is not by an unknown provider.
It worked so far with every single website login that I moved there (~35) and also normal mail communication.
The only that didn’t work so far, is the Plex mail verification process.
I really don’t believe it’s a problem this mail servers side.
