I had changed my Plex email a while ago, and recently forgot my password. I can still access the account through my Plex Home. However, I don’t receive any emails when using the forgotten password form or the confirm email form. I’ve made sure the emails match.
I tested with a secondary Plex account and it seems to be sending forgotten password emails just fine to that one. Is there some sort of support I should be contacting?
Your mailserver is or was at some time misconfigured.
The Plex sending server was encountering an error 550 5.7.21 Invalid DKIM signature, which lead to your email address getting blocked.
It has now been unblocked manually.
You need to rectify this mail server error (if you didn’t already) or the next attempt will get your email address blocked again.
Perfect! Thank you for the response, and for letting me know what the error was. I’ll check my mailserver twice over before requesting another password reset. I know there was a couple days where it was having issues a while ago.
So it seems that https://improvmx.com/ doesn’t have any way to provide a valid DKIM (or more likely I’m not smart enough to figure it out). I assume I haven’t noticed yet since gmail doesn’t have strict DKIM checking when sending, and I barely receive any email to my address (I don’t send any).
I was using improvmx before and it was working, but I’ve wrecked myself by forgetting my password now that it has stopped working.
I think the only solution at this point is to set up a real mailserver, and not rely on some forwarder (there goes my afternoon lol). But I’m sure this problem will only effect people with self-hosted mail setups.
Although I’m sure there’s not many of us affected I’m sure there’s a couple of users who can’t reset their passwords anymore.
I attempted to reset my password again after adding a DKIM to my DNS records, so I’m likely blocked again (you said it would block it again on my first failed attempt.). Is it possible to revert my email? I don’t want to bother someone every time I misconfigure an email server.
I had signed up with a gmail account ages ago before I changed my Plex email to the current one. It’s unlikely that you have that history, but it is going to take a while to properly set up a mail server and I might not be able to get to it right away.
It’s a silly question to ask, but it’s worth a shot.
If the domain name is yours, you should be able to set up a working mail account relatively quickly. If you don’t have the time to do it yourself, there are numerous hosting providers which are offering preconfigured mail services for very small money.
No worries! Yes I’m just very busy (no fault of yours, just work!). It’s not too hard to do, just probably won’t get to it until very late tonight or tomorrow! Thanks for the quick responses!
