Reading another post where a user had an issue with TV recordings being saved and he stated that
I checked logs and saw that top level folder was missing (The show name)
Then later in the thread they say that the recording created the TV Show name folder on it’s own.
As I get ready for all of my equipment to arrive I am setting things up. I created two folders on a NAS called “RecordedTVShows” and “RecordedMovies”. Do I need to create folders inside the RecordedTVShows folder for the shows when I want to record a new show or does Plex do this for me?
(Did not want to hijack that thread so I created a new one. Sorry for the clutter if this is a no-brainer.)
I use mcebuddy to move my recordings to proper library location. I record to a SSD with a library called DVR. I am seeing folders created on my DVR drive by Plex after my Post Processing with mcebuddy finishes. Folders are named with Show and original air year by Plex naming convention, also creates sub folder for season. Folder is empty since my mcebuddy post processing moves a transcoded version to my TV Show library and deletes the original.
PMS will create all the folders it needs for your recordings (and even delete them if you remove all the recordings, so you don’t have empty directories sitting around), so no need to do anything other than point it at a library.
