Connecting over the internet with my RPI

Server Version#:1.20.1.3252
Player Version#: 1.8.0.148-573b6d73 (official Rasplex)

Ha, ok, I have my server running for a number of years, and it had ups and downs when it came to dhcp and that sort. Lately it was running at my friends house real good, until I needed to change the ISP (at my home)… All those things needed to get connected to my server over the internet has not changed except the ip or domain name.

Currently I am sitting at my friends house with my laptop, trying to connect to my server at home over the internet and that works really well. This counts not for the Raspberry Pi, my android tablet and android phone. They simply cannot connect wheras I changed the RPi completely to the new IP, I get no files from home. Diconnected, connected via plex.tv/pin, that worked, but still no Rpi home stored movies on this big screen…
The android parts are not important, the Raspberri Pi is important.
What can I do to make this RPi work again? Anyone an idea???

Never mind, it crashed while switching skins… Did they not test this?
So, gonna take it home first, reinstall plex on it and from there we’ll see…

There is no such thing as an “official Rasplex”.
Rasplex was a continuation of the old, officially discontinued, “Plex Home Theater” embedded client. It was developed by a few members of the Plex community. But it hasn’t seen any updates in years.

@OttoKerner, what should I use then? to get it on our 2020 model Oled LG television?

I found an app on it, and on plex.tv connecting to it redirects still to my old IP adres.
Gotta find a way to solve this… evidently it does not listen to world wide dynamic name service…

I am not Otto and I don’t play him on television but you can use Rokus, Fire TVs, Shield TVs and a large number of Android boxes not to mention many other devices like PCs and Linux based computers.

There are so many choices it is hard to say which you “should” use. For the most powerful device either a computer [HTPC} or a Shield TV (not the tube IMO) for most people a Roku or one of the Fire devices. I prefer the Roku but the recent changes on both Plex’s side and Amazon’s make the Fire devices quite viable choices.

The plex app on the TV must be signed into your currently used plex.tv account. Then it will automatically connect to your server, which is signed into the same account.
This should work automatically, unless you interfered by setting up reverse proxy, VPN or other shenanigans.
On the TV, try to sign out, delete the app, switch off the TV, physically disconnect it from the power source for at least 1 minute, then reinstall the app.

Thanks for the advice, but I found an app on our LG Oled tv, but now I have a problem that It can find my account, but it still sees my old IP adres, (as this Plexx server is at my own house and not where this big screen tv resides…)
So, I tried to find on my server anything about the ip adres, but on my laptop, in the same house as the big tv, I get via plex.domain.nl the right IP, and connects ok… and via domain.nl:32400 I can also get the same good connection… So where on https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/media/bla bla bla/com.plexapp.plugins.library?source=13 is my old IP still registered???

I find this weird, I never added my IP adres to my account as far as I know!

Don’t use a domain. It is not needed.
Plex will take care of that automatically.

On the tv, the app PLEX, has settings that I could change, so there I gave my IP adres, but it still has problems to connect to it…
