Server Version#: 1.23.6.4881-e2e58f321, Linux server
Player Version#: Web/Desktop, Plex4Kodi: Addon v0.2.3 on Kodi v18.9.
A friend (“Friend A”) of mine upgraded/replaced (completely!) his server a few months ago, and ever since then I can no longer connect to his server.
Trying to understand why, I also been seeing .. “issues” with my own. I can connect to just fine, but when using the web app - https://app.plex.tv/desktop/ - Chrome say “Not Secure” even though everything seems fine.
I have set
Secure connections: REQUIRED - tried PREFERED but no difference
Strict TLS configuration: TRUE - tried FALSE but no difference
I’ve also tried the ‘secure=0’ and ‘secure=1’ param on the URL, but no difference..
Another friends server (“Friend B”) works fine from my RaspberryPi media/client, but not from the web/desktop app. Friend A doesn’t work from anywhere.
Trying to connect to both friends with the iOS app just gives the error “require version 1.18.3 or above”, but we’re all version higher than that..
I don’t even know where to begin looking for the problem so any pointers would be most appreciated.
If I add "Friend A"s (external) server IP as a manual server entry (in the Plex4Kodi app), I can connect to it… But that’s not how it should be, right? Besides, he’s on dynamic IP, so it’ll probably only work for a while…
Ah, forgot to mention that… Apparently, he have several other (external) friends and clients connecting to him without problem… It’s just me apparently.
He hard coded the port to 32400 and I had to set “Allow Insecure Connections: Always” on the client and then it works…
I double checked this by turning of remote access on MY server and trying to connect to it from the RPi. I got the message “… rejected because secure connections are required”. So it turns out that the client can’t do secure connections!
AND, for some reason, it can’t handle servers on dynamic ports either…
