From time to time I get connection problems to my PMS. I can select the user but then I cannot find the server. The strange thing is, that the PMS is running and on the same PC and that I can even play Movies or TV Shows via the Plex Media Player.
I think that it is somehow related to the ports, cause in my router log I saw that Plex changes the requiered ports form time to time.
Turn off Upnp and enable manual port forward to your server (which should have a static IP). That should solve the issue. Be careful not to miss the checkbox to the left of “manually specify port” as per described in the guide
I turned off UPNP and enabled manual port forward to my server.
I can connect to the server via direct IP and via plex.tv from the same PC on which PMS is installed.
The server shows that remote is activated and working as intended.
When, I then use my mobile or laptop (both not via WIFI) I cannot connect to the server. However, he tells me that he cannot connect via a secured connection. When I ask him to connect with an unsecure connection, he suddenly cannot find the server anymore.
I already restarted PC, PMS, Router.
Secure connection is set to preferred. Changing this setting does not influence the result.
I’d try two things, first sign in and out from the server (from the settings page) and second, enable the manual port forward on a different port for testing purpose, perhaps 443 (if you haven’t got anything else published on that port). It might “break” iPhone function so just test it remotely via your laptop.
You don’t have Jumbo Frames enabled or such by any chance? Do you have anything other that’s a bit more advanced, such as your own certificate etc? I assume that Plex is updated to latest version too?
