Out of the blue I can no longer remote access my plex server remotely. I have uninstalled the server and reinstalled. I have made sure my Upnp recognizes the plex media server. I have tried to manually port forward the server. I called my ISP (Spectrum) and they have assured me they have no access to blocking ports because I have my own router. The tech I talked to has his own plex so they were knowledgeable about plex. It’s ran for over a year with no issues untill like 4-5 days ago and it just randomly quite.I have also tried changing the port number manually with no luck. I am so lost at what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh my remote link does go in and out of available and not.
This just started happening to me, also. Worked great for years, now it won’t stay green in the remote access settings. Fails with both UPNP and manually specified port forwarding.
Yup. I still have no remote access. The only thing I can think of to do is buy a new router. I’m not doing that yet. I just feel bad for the people that used my plex. I know they hate it but it still works in my home so. It sucks and I can’t find a solution.
What does https://canyouseeme.org/ show?
EDIT: have you also run thru https://support.plex.tv/articles/200931138-troubleshooting-remote-access/ ?
I have tried canyouseeme many times with and without my vpn and adguard. It can’t see me. I have also tried the support link. I have called my isp to make sure they are not blocking any ip’s or ports and they are not. I have turned off UPnp and manually port forward the ip with the internal and external ports and no luck. I tried talking to people on reddit also and I get all these same links and things to try with no avail.
canyouseeme.org not being able to see your forwarded port implies this issue is between „the internet“ (your ISP) and your router (incl. the router configuration).
Do the public IP seen by canyouseeme.org and the PMS remote access settings match your router’s WAN IP?
same here, it was working great for years before I upgraded plex container to 1.42.2.10156
actually it can see the public ip and port. It does also match.
@timcol37 Can you post your server logs then? Might be a 429 cert issue.
Dec 07, 2025 02:25:13.570 [20384] ERROR - CERT: Error acquiring new certificate: Failed to upload CSR: 429, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

@OttoKerner Can you help @timcol37?
Please wait about 10 minutes, then stop and restart your server.
will do. if this is fix thank you all so much.
Can I ask where you found that error? It does seem to be working now. I can access it over cell service and not just wifi anymore. Also thank you so much.
I opened the “Plex Media Server.log” and did a search for “error.” I’m not great at interrupting logs, but opening them and searching for “error” or “warn,” will usually give you the clues.
Ah. Seriously thank you so much. It been like a week of being on the phone with the isp and uninstalling and reinstalling things. Unplugging and rebooting things. Going on reddit too. You @’d that mod and it actually seems to be fixed. Thank you thank you thank you.
Thank you sooooo much! I can access over cell network now instead of just wifi. Seems to be fixed. I super appreciate it!!!
Download your server logs and then search for “error” I had a 429 cert error and the mod below fixed it.
It was. Thank you so much!!!
