Constant crashing and pausing

Hi Guys,

Need some help to troubleshoot my plex server. Have been running plex for years but lately I’m getting quite a few issues:

  1. Server just “stops” (the process stops and I need to re-run, as soon as I hover over the icon in the system tray it vanishes)
  • This will happen multiple times a day
  1. During playback it’ll pause as though it’s buffering but will never restart
  2. Pausing items for a long time will cause it to fail on “unpause”

Even though I’ve been using plex for years - I’m not that great at troubleshooting (beyond, stop/ reboot/ start/ upgrade!) but will follow any instructions!

Where’s the best place to start please as it’s getting annoying now!

I don’t have the pausing problem but the PMS stopping/vanishing in system tray is my exact problem as well. Would love to get down to the bottom of it.

We’re working through it.

I’ve got a suspicion it’ll be similar as the other thread that got me here. My library is pretty big (2500 movies/ 6000 TV episodes) and pretty old (plex pass purchased in 2013, never had a total rebuild)…

Keeping the “followers” updated, this has now been passed along for further investigation - as I know more I’ll update!

oddly enough the thing kept closing on my while I was watching a TV show this morning. I had 5 closes in 30 mins.

This is on the windows app with the server box not even 2’ away from me… thankfully I had an RDP open so could keep reloading, but annoyingly it wasn’t saving my position in the show!

Just guessing but this might be related to an issue I’ve also have, reported in Crashing repeatedly on 1.23.6.4881 Logs included - Plex Media Server - Plex Forum although the version reported in this thread, is an earlier version

Oddly enough this issue is continuing through all versions for me.
Currently on Version 1.24.0.4921 and the exact behaviour continues (which is why I think it might be specific to the age/ size of my DB)

No updates yet but as soon as I get something I’ll post here for interested people!

No updates or feedbacks… however the crashes are less frequent now (nothing changed on my side except normal updates…)
