Constant resume issues on Apple TV 4K, Shield and Smart TV

Server Version#: 1.24.5.5173
Server OS: Debian 11
Player Version#: Happens on Shield, Smart TV, Apple TV 4K so all signs point to it being something with the server.

I’m seeing non-stop failures trying to resume watching something. Tonight, around 6pm’ish, I started watching ‘No Time to Die’. Playback kicked off without a hitch. I had to stop the movie and tried resuming it around 10:30pm and it refused to start. I tried multiple times and each time, I just got the spinning wheel.

May I have the XML (media portion only – which shows the streams in the file) ?

I have Shield Pro 2019, AppleTV 4K, and Smart TV (LG 2021 OLED - WebOS) which play without issue.

Hi,
I see same issue, but not only on resume, also on first start. It is a gamble if playback start or not.
Issue is only on my Sony Bravia (Anroid TV) latest app version. Same device using Kodi with plex plugin working smooth, also starting playbavk with smartphone and all other devices.

I know it might be difficult to capture but , when it does not start/resume, please download the server logs (Make certain DEBUG logging is enabled but VERBOSE disabled , SAVE if you make changes) before you start the capture attempt.

If your other devices are all smooth, then it’s 99% certainly a player problem.

For that we’ll need the player’s logs

If I can see PMS faulting, then we know it’s PMS.

I do suspect it’s the app but let’s be certain where the problem is first.

I’m having the same issue on my Sony X900H TV, which runs Android TV, but if I roll back to 8.23.1.28053, the issue is no longer present. I grabbed the log from the app and see quite a few errors with stacktraces. I’d be more than happy to send my log your way and to help troubleshoot this issue however I can, but I’d prefer not to post my logs publicly.

I have a X950H and its exactly the same for me. I also run an old copy of the app for this reason. It’s like the resume function doesn’t even exist. No progress bars are shown on any videos on the home screen, no buttons to resume in the library or menus, no prompts to resume at last position, and video playback always starts at the beginning.
