Constant "Server Settings are Unavailable" windows 10

Server Version#: 1.25.3.5409-f11334058
Player Version#: NA

This has been driving me nuts ever since I changed over to plex a couple months ago. Every time I try to go to server settings using the local ip: http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/ on the same device that the plex server is running on everything seems to work as far as streaming goes on this and other devices however when I try to access the server settings I keep getting “Server Settings Are Unavailable” after what appears to be a timeout.

Things I’ve tried:

  1. Signing out, Rebooting plex, signing back in (no difference)
  2. Deleting multiple cache files in the folders I found from support documents (no difference)
  3. Trying to do it through plex.tv (no difference)
  4. Updating to latest version (when available) - no difference
  5. Completely uninstalling and re-installing plex - works for about a day and then goes back to the same issue
  6. VPN off / on (it is bypassed in the settings but for fun) - no difference
  7. upgrading from windows 10 to 11 - no difference
  8. about 8 hours worth of suggestions from 3-8 year old reddit posts (no difference)

I just bought plex a couple months ago and completely changed over from emby and it is starting to look like a terrible mistake. Anyone have this issue and hopefully a fix that doesn’t link to 6 year old web pages that don’t exist anymore?

Are you running PiHole in your network by chance? So did I until recently and was frequently greeted by the “Server Settings Unavailable” by my Plex Server. Had to switch to Adguard Home for unrelated reasons and haven’t seen that problem (among some others) ever since.

Although I couldn’t come up with any reason why that is/was…

Hey there, no my setup for this one is probably the most basic in the world. I use it local-only and run the server off of a windows 11 machine and stream pretty much exclusively to a fire tv like 2 feet away from it. I think the only odd network-related thing on my entire setup is a software-based vpn but I’ve tried both turning it off and uninstalling it (it bypasses that app anyways) and neither fixed it.

Alright I got it figured out. I ended up having a similar webview problem with steam vr and couldn’t manage to close surfshark via the task manager so I completely uninstalled it and both started working again. So for anyone else try completely uninstalling surfshark if you got it and see if that does the trick.

I’m having the same issue after updating this morning…I’ve tried reverting the an older version but same problem. I’m trying from a different laptop and browser and still get the “server settings are unavailable”

I’d say if you have any kind of vpn client give a shot uninstalling it, restarting the computer and trying it again just to be safe. If not I can tell you restarting the computer or uninstalling / reinstalling plex managed to fix it for a second for me too. Outside of that though that’s about everything that worked for me.
