Server settings are unavailable

Hello,

I’m having a problem since a couple of weeks, I looked through all the forums and unfortunately can’t resolve it.
I explain myself, I was on windows 7 (everything was ok) and made a fresh install on windows 10.
I installed plex with no particular problem, everything was running smoothly.
Here is my problem

If I turn down plex media server on my computer I can’t access it anymore.
" Server settings are unavailable. "
that’s means all libraries are unavailable and I can’t even download logs
Now if I uninstall it (uninstall + regedit + appdata) and install it, everything turns normal until a shut it down.

Any idea would be appreciated
Thank you !

Logs are stored here -

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\Logs

You should be able to access those even if Plex doesn’t start so you can see whats going on.

Thank you for the logs

Is there someone able to debug me with them ?
Plex Media Server.log (137.0 KB)
Plex Media Server.log (68.7 KB)

Is one file before a reboot and one after?

if you are not using ipv6 at all I would disable that at the NIC level.

I’m not sure what NIC level is so I disabled IPV6 on my network card

After reboot Plex Media Server.log (74.1 KB) Fresh install Plex Media Server.log (469.1 KB)
this logs should be better
one with a fresh install when everything works the second after a pc’s reboot

Hey how’s everybody doin’?
NIC stands for Network Interface Card.

I’m not sure you were successful, as I can see IPv6 in your After Reboot log.

When an exception is caught, some plex process crashed. That’s not normal. It generally does not also complain about the 127.0.0.1 address being unavailable.

Here it lists the Network Interfaces it knows about, and the IP addresses.

It was showing an IPv6 address, but it didn’t show 127.0.0.1 as an additional loopback connection.

Your logs also show a variety of odd problems: database is locked, unknown metadata type, curl error 3 (malformed url), curl 28 timeouts. The goal is not to have those, but I can’t say why you have them. I myself have the database is locked error right now.

I’d suggest a few things:

  • disable IPv6 more
  • uninstall any VPN you have
  • reboot the computer if you did
  • run MS System File Checker
  • reboot the computer if sfc does anything
  • test PMS and get a log.

If you can’t get to the screens shown below, let us know and we’ll find a way to do it in a text file.

IPV6 Changes

Hello,

thank you for the informations.
unfortunately it did not work :frowning:
I can’t access the screen that you posted
here’s my SFC that show no problem, a picture of how I disabled IPV6 (I turned off all other network card) and “new logs”

Plex Media Server.log (125.9 KB)

This article describes how to disable IPv6 in Plex if you can’t get into the Server Settings:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/201105343-advanced-hidden-server-settings/

EnableIPv6 - Turn on IPv6 support for the server, default is 0 which is what you want to specify, even though it’s the default, as it should make sure that IPv6 is disabled.

So you would

  • Quit the Plex Media Server program, i.e. shut it down.
  • make the change to your server settings carefully.
  • restart PMS and give it 6min to initialize.
  • Try to connect to https://server.ip.address:32400/web

Do you have any VPN? Did we get your output of ipconfig /all yet?

Ok I did two things :
I uninstalled plex and reinstalled it in another drive (D:/ instead of C:/)
and I disabled IPV6 in the regedit as you explained me how to.

I’m not really sure which one was the good call but it seems now to work properly.

I will try multiple reboot / add libraries and network access to confirm if everything is good.
I will also re-activate IPv6 to determine if that’s the problem in that case that would be nice to find a proper solution than disabled ipv6 xD

I will keep you informed.

I said oh God no, then I lol’d. You’re right. This was an adventure. :clinking_glasses:

Hey,

So I re-activated IPv6 (in plex) and it is still working properly not sure where the problem was.
The only “difference” is the drive where plex is installed. I don’t know if that was the problem and I don’t understand either why but now it works

Thank you @nokdim and @nibbles for the time you took to help me

Have a nice day
