Content "Unavailable" on Synology DS412+ NAS

Player Version#: For Tivo - 3.13.13 / Samsung app 2.012

A while back - all of a sudden the content on my PMS stopped working, noting that movies are “Unavailable” in a red bar when I try to play them on my Tivo. On the Samsung app, it tries to load but says “Unable to connect to the content server”.

I can fully see all the movies and TV shows in their respective folders with all the cover art coming up along with the description, cast, etc. But neither allows me to play the content.

I’ve signed out and signed back in, I’ve made sure the PMS on my Synology is up to date. From my connected PC, I can go to the folder where the media is stored on the server and play it directly - I just can’t play it on Plex.

I’ve tried to make sure that Plex has all the proper authorization and everywhere I can find in the shared drive and users - Plex has either Read Only or Read and Write permission.

Any help would be appreciated - I’ve uploaded my PMS server logs

Control Panel - Shared Folders - EDIT the share containing the media - Permissions tab
Give user plex permission to read the media.

Repeat as needed.

Chuck - Thanks for the suggestion but I’ve already done that but it didn’t seem to work. I’ve gone in and changed the permission, turning it off, saved it and then gone back in and turned it on again.

Trying that now… I’ll let you know how it goes. I restarted my Synology server and that didnt seem to work. but I’ll try rescanning.

Ok - I tried that and I still get the “Unavailable” tag. Additionally, when i try to play any of the movies, tv shows or music, I get the error message that says “Please check that the file exists and the necessary drive is mounted.”

Any other suggestions.

The predefined video share has always conflicted with PMS. Synology reserves video for their products (for unknown reason)

The recommended usage on a Synology is to make movies, television,music, and/or photos (any names you want) for your media . Remember to give user plex access as you create it.
