Continue playing from another player - multiple players

Plexamp has been the best thing ever. And I have been spoiled over the years as a loyal Squeezebox user - but with PlexAmp on a Pi system, there is nothing like it (ok… PLS find a way to support podcasts).

What I do find a bit of a challenge, is an easy way to take a playlist from one player, and continue on the next. It is relatively easy to disconnect the phone from one player, but with more than one player, on the network (not all always on - for example my desktop computer) - it would be nice if there was a way to “continue” playing a queue from one player on another player.

It would be great if that was an option on the home screen (continue playing from player x, y, z).

Thoughts?

I’m not sure I fully understand what you’re trying to suggest.
Are you asking for an option to pick up playback from a device that’s offline? Kind of like a cloud-synced play queue per client and using that synced queue instead of depending on the client to be “available”?

Hi @tom80H

I will try to explain it a bit more eloquently

When I listen to PlexAmp via the RaspberryPi, I simply disconnect my phone to continue listening in the car via Bluetooth - or listen to something else entirely.

When I come back home, and I connect my phone back to the RaspberryPi, it picks up where I disconnected from the Pi -

That got me thinking.

In the PlexAmp home screen, would it be possible to list (just like the recently played, and mixes, etc) the current play queue’s of all players, and when you click on one of them, you simply continue that queue?

For example - my play queue on the desktop is at a certain position.
I want to continue that in the living room on the Pi - it transfers the queue to the Pi (meaning, it “moves” not just copies). The desktop play queue is now no longer associated with the desktop, but with the Pi - when I want to continue the next day on the desktop - I simply reverse the procedure and pick up where I left off (by transferring the playlist and current position from the living room Pi to the desktop).

Assuming the Plex Media Server already has a table containing playlist and play position per player, the requested requirement would be a feature to move that playlist to another active player.

Of course, a connection to the Plex Media Server is required to execute the transfer.

I hope that makes sense?
