"Continue Watching" missing show after a special show aired (Season 21 NCIS)

Server Version#: 1.40.1.8227-7000
Player Version#: 4.125.1

I have been adding each new episode of NCIS season 21 to my PLEX server as they become available. Last week, there was not a new episode but an anniversary special. The special came down as s21e00.

This week a new episode was brought in as s21e07 however it did not appear in the “Continue Watching” section.

While trying to figure out why it didn’t appear, I set s21e00 to unwatched at which point s21e07 appeared in the Continue Watching section. I went back and reset s21e00 to watched and the new unwatched s21e07 disappeared.

For transparency, s21e01 thru s21e06 have been watched.

It appears that the s21e00 has some negative effect on the processing of the Continue Watching algorithm.

Has anyone else seen or heard of anything like this?

Thank you all for looking. I appreciate your time and attention.

Specials should be in season 0.

I don’t watch that show but guessing it is this episode that came out April 8th which is S00E20

First let me apologize for not researching this issue a little deeper.

I did just find the information on TV Shows and Specials at:

Naming and Organizing Your TV Show Files | Plex Support

I did some moving and renaming of the show in question and that seems to have resolved my issue.

Not sure I understand the e00 problem during a normal season. But I am happy to report that my system is working well.

Thank you
Bob

BigWheel… It actually reported as s21e00, but yes you are correct. It was the “Special” aired on April 8th.

Bob

not sure what that means. what reported it as that?

The sites that Plex gets data from don’t ever really use 00 as an episode number. so it won’t pull down correct metadata if that is used.

It came from PlayOn
