Continue Watching Showing Season Artwork

After ~10 years of the On Deck/Continue Watching showing show artwork it is now being changed to season artwork, I’d like to request this be changed back and allowing the season artwork to be an option.

I can understand why someone would want this. However, people who have large libraries and/or older shows know how hard it is to get quality season artwork. Plus it’s much harder to keep on top of multiple seasons posters versus just one poster, to keep your library looking nice and clean.

All of the nice design work in the new app is ruined by what is now a row of poor quality posters. Some of it is fixable, some I’ll have to make posters. I have a lot of TV shows, multiply that by number of seasons in each show. Thats a lot of work to now not have this look like bleh for the people using my server. It’s the latter part being the reason I think the season poster should be an option and not the other way around, shared users experience should also be remembered here.

Please consider moving back to the way Plex has traditionally handled Continue Watching.

Personally, I feel like the client should show the shows main poster if it has only one season.

Then show the season poster if the show has more than one season.

The reason for this is that most people don’t upload good season posters for shows with only one season.

Unfortunately that’s the case for a lot of shows with multiple seasons as well.

I prefer season poster on continue watching. But I agree that is should be optional.

I also want to point out that beyond their generally inferior quality, season posters are also more likely to contain spoilers about casting changes than series posters.

It’s also quite distracting seing the word “Season” on every poster on that row now.
