I run an old but updated (hardware) iMac with Plex that has been perfect since I installed the app years ago. Now since an update from plex my contrast is way too high and I can just read the text. There is no control in the settings. Plex works perfect on my LG OLED. I’m stuck on High Sierra with no support now for updates to my Mac. Do you think this is the issue? Thank you for any help.
How about we start with which app are we talking about. On a Mac it could be…
- The desktop app which just called Plex
- Plex HTPC
- or the Web app in browser app.plex.tv
There has been no changes to anything that would affect contrast afaik
It’s the desktop app just called Plex.
Can you see what version number it is in Finder?
Version 4.116.1
Or version 1.32.8.7639 with check for up to date
4.116.1 is the web app version in browser, not the Plex desktop app
1.32.8.7639 is the server version number
if you view finder in column view or get info on the app you should be able to see version number
Version 1.32.8
That is the version of the server, not the Plex desktop player app.
I know it would be hard for you to read but it would say Plex for Mac in settings

My setting option after manage library access says Plex Web
Then that is the web app. not the desktop app. Which web browser are you using it in? Does it do the same from https://app.plex.tv ?
Works perfect with your link. So I guess delete the web app and build from new with the desk top app? I tried the link on Outllook and it worked great.
No that comes with the server and cannot be deleted… Just bookmark https://app.plex.tv/ in your browser and use it instead.
Shall do. Thank you very much for all the help and support. I have a lot more knowledge thanks to your help ![]()
