It looks like a new Beta fixing this issue is released: (Transcoder) Unexpected behavior when subtitles ended before the end of video (#14426) Plex Media Server - #596 by drzoidberg33

No update other than resolving the crashes of Plex Media Server on MacOS when this transcoder crash occurs. This will reduce the impact of the problem. The actual transcoder crash is still to be resolved For the PMS crashes on MacOS - I have a development build that I am having a few users try out

I am attempting to track this down as we speak. I am HOPING (but not guaranteeing) that it will be resolved in time for 1.32.7.

Indeed, I am using 1.32.1.6999 at the moment and the error has stopped happening. I have noticed that in this version, the very last subtitle does not display, which may be a precursor to this problem and may be related.

The last (srt) subtitle not being displayed is yet another bug that has been around for quite some time now. There are some ‘workarounds’ available in different topics.

I have a development build available that I will make available to a number of users willing to try it and confirm if it fixes the problem of the transcoder crashing when subtitles are used. Let me know the platform/binary needed if you are happy to try it

I just found this thread because I have the same problem and had opened a thread myself (https://forums.plex.tv/t/problems-with-direct-play-when-using-subtitles-on-a-variety-of-devices/). I was able to narrow down the problem to the extent that this problem occurred between version “1.32.1.6999-91e1e2e2c” and “1.32.2.7100-248a2daf0”.
