"Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error." when I use subtitles and try to scrub forward / backward

Server Version#: 1.18.1.2019
Player Version#: 4.8.3

How to produce the bug:

  1. Play media (Korean tv show in this case)
  2. Enable .srt subtitles
  3. Scrub forward or backward

Error: Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error.

This does not error if I start from beginning / where I left off, and let it just play.

This error occurs across multiple *.srts, so it’s not this particular srt. I have tried changing the encoding/etc to no avail.

.srt file type: UTF-8 Unicode (with BOM) text, with CRLF line terminators
