Conversion failed. The transcoder failed to start up (external subtitles *.srt)

Since a couple of months i’m getting the following playback error:
“Conversion failed. The transcoder failed to start up”

I tried a couple of things:

  • plex dance
  • installed an older version of the plex server
  • Different formats of video’s and subtitles

I learned so far that the problem only occurs when the video is played with a external subtitle in .srt format. I getting the same error if I play it in the server app or if I play it in the plex app on my LG TV.

When I switch the external .srt subtitle off, it works perfectly.
When the subtitle is internal (.ass or .srt) it also works perfectly.

I supplied the logs after a a tried a few times to play video with a external *.srt and getting the error message I quoted before.

Can someone help me with this?
