Conversion failed. The transcoder failed to start up

Hi, I have been using plex for years and it has always played MKV files no problem. Yesterday for some reason it started giving me this error - Conversion failed. The transcoder failed to start up.
I have searched everywhere to find a solution. Can you please help.
I am running windows 10 and trying to play straight from the plex server and the above error is what it gives me. Plex plays mp4s fine. and my mac plays mkv files fine.

My Plex started doing this after the last update as well. I had to uninstall PMS and rollback to 1.14.1.5488 (I think 3 updates previous to current) before the error ceased. Would recommend for anyone else having this issue as well.

I uninstalled Plex, removed localdata and all registry entrys. Rolled back Plex to five updates ago and still no luck. Any other thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Problem solved. I deleted plex and installed Emby. Emby works like a charm for all my media
