Convert Automatically

I am going to try this again and see if I get any help this time. I have to say that I really do like the Plex server but customer service is not good from my experience. I am reluctant to get Plex Premium Pass if this is the level of service I can expect in the future.

Anyway, most MPEG4 videos don’t play properly on the fire stick, 4k or otherwise. (Videos look to be playing at half to two thirds frame rate and it’s really noticeable.) All H.264 & H.265 files direct play fine with no problem. When the “convert automatically” option is chosen the MPEG4 videos play fine. But when a future MPEG4 video plays that requires that conversion, you have to reset it. It will show on screen that the “convert automatically” option is chosen but it is not in reality. I can see from my server on my PC that it is direct playing the file. So, I have to choose “Play Original Quality” option then choose “Convert Automatically” again so that the MPEG4 video with play properly. I only want the incompatible files with the fire stick to be converted because Direct Play is optimal for those video files that are compatible with the fire stick.

Is there a solution to this problem already that I haven’t found or can I get some help on this issue from someone who can help? I have had this problem ever since I have gotten my fire sticks (two 4K sticks, two HD sticks). I am not about to re-encode the hundreds of tv episodes that are MPEG4 videos just so they are compatible. That should not be necessary.

The H.263 files that work, have a value of “No” for both entires marked with red circles. I think it is solved. The only way to fix it, I fear, is to re-encode those episodes. No two ways about it. Unless Plex can account for that within the software. Who knows? At least I know the culprit.
