I’m experiencing a problem playing mp4 files using Plex on an Amazon Fire Stick. All I get is jittery green lines overlaying the video. If I play the same files in Plex on my LG Smart TV (Plex ver. 4.29.2) they play fine. Most of my library consists of MKV files and they play fine on either device. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Is it only on playback of mp4?
From the sound of it, it looks like it could be something to do with video hardware acceleration. Are you running 4k?
Things to try/check
Is the fire stick updated?
Have you got a video resolution set on the firestick or is it automatic?
Have you tried changing the H464 option in the plex app?
Also you could try disabling the new player
Thanks for the reply. Yes, this problem is only happening on playback of mp4 files and only when playing them on the Fire Stick. The really odd part is the same files play fine in the Plex app on 2 different smart TVs, one an LG and the other a Vizio.
I am not running 4k.
The Firestick is running the latest version (Fire OS 5.2.7.2)
Video resolution is set to Automatic
I have tried changing the H264 maximum level from the recommended default of 5.0 down to 4.0 and up to 5.2 and it had no effect on the problem. I returned it to the 5.0 setting. I also tried disabling the new player and that also had no effect on the problem.
Any other information I can provide or things to try would be appreciated,
