Convert to 320p?

Have gigabit speeds but Plex now only will stream my content in 320p. WHY? This just started today. No matter what I change in settings nothing seems to work. If I try to force change this to “Play original quality” it auto changes to “Convert to 320p”.

Please help!

Basic troubleshooting:

  1. confirm the client is set to original/max quality (you apparently already did that)

  2. verify what type of stream you’re actually dealing with… there’s a number of potential situations that can cause a stream inside your home network to be considered remote or indirect.
    You can identify if your stream is considered local, remote or indirect using the Now Playing information from the server’s dashboard.

    • if your stream is considered remote… double-check the remote video quality (same as #1… just for the remote/internet streaming) and the server’s remote access bitrate limits. if both devices are supposed to be part of your home network, make sure they’re in the same subnet (e.g. no active network devices / access points creating their own subnets; no separation by regular/guest networks or LAN/WAN based on your router).
    • if your stream is considered indirect, you this implies something’s not right with your remote access configuration (or the home network setup is mixed up, as explained above

Hello, just did an update of my appleTV4 PLEX-app; same issue now here;
only play in 320p mode ???
i have never had any problem with Plex-app so far

I just updated to the latest version today and regardless of the settings I choose, it downconverts all of my content to 320p when streaming locally.

Not impressed.

Please take a look at the most recent update Plex, the software is not worth using until it’s sorted out.

Mind sharing your server logs so Plex or somebody in the forum can take a look what’s so special about your setup?
It might also help if you can share information from the Now Playing tile on the server dashboard while streaming such a 320p file – maybe a screenshot; at least to include how the video is being streamed (local, remote or indirect) and if/what tracks are being transcoded
