Cord Cutting...Satellite DVR? Freesat? + ATV

Hi, so I’ve cancelled my Sky sub and will be joining the cord cutters club over the next few weeks.

I currently have a NAS with plex server and buying an ATV4K.

I was also considering a Freesat box so that I can retain recording but it looks like this is a part of Plex premium now? I searched Google and could only find posts/replies from people saying Satellite isn’t supported with Plex yet? However, i’ve entered my postcode and Freesat here: https://www.plex.tv/features/live-tv-dvr/ and it brings up a huge list of channels I should be able to get through Plex. Is this accurate?

I don’t know much about this setup at all. Essentially the aim is to utilize my satellite dish to watch live TV in plex and be able to record, schedule, pause, rewind etc…

What hardware do I need to achieve this? I guess this method no longer requires a Freesat box, as it is essentially the same thing?

Also, is there a way to watch IPTV in Plex with nice guide/ EPG? This would essentially kill the need for me to use anything else for consuming content.

Satellites aren’t supported by Plex yet. Your satellite dish probably won’t work with Plex. And also on the topic on the huge channels thing if it’s stuff like: BBC One, ITV, Channel 4, etc. Then everything is normal! These are free to air TV programs. It may of picked up some US channels as well (although that is highly unlikely).

For the Plex DVR and Live TV to work you need: An indoor or outdoor antenna, Digital Tuner and a device that can scan for channels via Plex. After that you should be able to pick up channels and you should be good to go from there.
