Core Manager for Plex Arcade

I am using mac os, are you on a different platform?

I am on windows so that could be the difference

yeah it wouldn’t be that; parsec uses some funky networking techniques for low-latency streaming between client and server, so if you have double-NAT or router with a bad attitude it can cause issues completely different from the usual streaming video ones.

Hrmm, anybody have any luck with NES yet? I tried all three NES cores, no dice.

I’m using MacOS and can’t get N64 to download either, keeps downloading empty ZIP files. Where can I grab the core to set it up manually?

You’re my hero, @vanstinator! I came here to ask for help getting Cores set up on my server, and this solved the issue for me beautifully. Thanks!

So, uh, what now? (Windows Server 2012 R2)

I’m using the core manager. but, I can’t change the mame core. it won’t let me delete the stock one and change out to the most recent.

yes. you need files with an .nes extension.

afaik the default one is the newest (“yearless”) core.

So, if a game won’t play on it, I’m stuck with that core?

not “stuck” per se. make sure you have the right ROM version, i had a few that needed upgrading.

what if I want to change the core?

@keithdok can you upload the logfile from %APPDATA%\Roaming\core-manager\logs. And if you View > Toggle Developer Tools > Console and send me a screenshot that would be helpful as well.

In this case are you trying to click the delete button and nothing happens? Logs in that case would be helpful as well.

that’s way beyond my abilities.

yes, nothing happens when I click the delete button.

I don’t know if Core Manager lets you override the included one, but you are free to manually do it your self. Just add the core and edit the XML like you would for any other core.

go for it :grimacing: just add an Arcade mapping to point to the new core and it should prefer it.

I had a similar timeout error on mine. Googled etc until I decided to just login to my headless unit and it was because the windows firewall wanted permission to pass parsec traffic. So appears you on apple but something to look into. As soon as I accepted the pending prompt retried and everything worked.
