I think i noticed this after the last update and switching my GTX 1050ti from an x8 to an x16 slot so i’m guessing it may be an issue with the 1.21.4.4079 version
Love the app but any chance there could be a setting to specify a custom location for the “Plex Media Server”? I have mine on a secondary drive because of how large it is.
Plex, guys, come on, you are charging a price for this service, I run multiple servers and I had to go to reddit and these forums just to figure out how to get things started. This is Alpha at best, Beta if you want to be generous, but charging for it is just not right.
They’ve stated many times it’s because of the parsec licensing. You think it’s unpolished now, it would be simple non-functioning without parsec.
I think in fairness to Plex its much better now. Safe to say its Beta now and just needs a few extras like being able to select cores etc from within Plex Settings → Arcade (would be nice) perhaps a way to upload roms?
I guess it depends who their target user is. If it’s experienced retrogamers who are used to having to tinker to get things to work, it’s already in a good place and improving every release, if it’s “I click it and it just works” movie fans (which is what the plex movie experience is) then not having core management and zip extraction built-in yet feels a bit probably needs a little more polish before it’s ready for prime-time.
I’m loving it though!
yeah im enjoying what we have so far but it needs to be embedded within Plex or there’s no point in it being Plex in my honest opinion. We are all tinkerers by heart but it needs to be simple at the user end. users should be able to plug in and play which doesnt work at the moment. lots of things just arent that playable albeit that they work. clearly Nintendo with their Z Trigger are an anomaly but something that needs a simple remapping for the Z trigger to either ZR or ZL.
We could do with integration if people are going to take up Plex Arcade en mass and this needs to be teamed with some kind of concurrent licence as well if people are going to want to adopt it
Can anyone tell me what rom distro to use with MAME for the one that is included in the core manager? Should we use the MAME .229 roms or roms from a previous build?
The one the server uses by default is the “yearless” one, which I believe is the latest ROM set.
Mac user, loving both Plex Arcade and Core Manager so far, as well as the updates. I was pumped when SNES9x was able to play SuperFX chip games after a recent update.
Still noticing I can’t download a core for GBA or N64. Any updates on this?
N64 should be using Parallel emu core. should be an option on the Core Manager
I had thought so, but the download button (in Core Manager) is still white, and when you click it, it says that it is not yet available on my operating system (Mac, fully updated). Same for GBA. I know Core Manger automatically updates, so I’ve been waiting for a status change, checking every couple of days. Is there something I’m missing?
if you can find a core that does work for it then you should be able to manually add it into the config file
Ok I linked the Parsec account, downloaded the emulators and the core manger, but nothing works. does it have to be saved in specific file?
Hi there Vanstinator,
I’m having problems loading my SNES games with almost any core all I get is a blank/black screen. I’ve used your Core Manager and downloaded the “Snes9x” and I still can’t get it to work, however, I got it working on “bsnes_hd_beta_libretro” core but the only thing is I don’t like it because it’s only in portrait view on PC and all devices but at least I can tell that games are working so that eliminates one possible problem.
Also is there a stable core that supports six buttons for Sega Mega Drive/Genesis? so that I can play games like Street Fighter, I’ve used “genesis_plus_gx_libretro” and yes it supports six buttons but it doesn’t work properly. It doesn’t map out the buttons on an Xbox one controller and my character moves on its own or doesn’t respond at all so I’m only left with “picodrive_libretro” which only supports three buttons
