If the default media server path is unavailable you should get a prompt to update it. I suspect your old data directory may be on disk yet which causes Core Manager to use it.
I’ll add a button somewhere that allows an override more easily

Primarily a windows-focused release to improve the overall look and feel of the app:
New:
Cant get Genesis to load at all. Plex doesn’t recognize it as a console (only SNES & NES).
tried extracting zip content so .bin files are visible. still doesn’t work. changed extension to .gen. still not recognized. Tried both PicoDrive & Genesis Plus GX.
Folder layout is “Games>GENESIS”…also tried “Games>Sega Genesis”
Anyone else experiencing this?
we recognize .md extensions for Sega Genesis (MegaDrive).
That worked! thanks very much
Whats the best core to use for MAME? i find that MAME 2003-PLUS loads everything but colors are washed out… is there something that I’m missing?
the one which we download automatically, aka “yearless” mame.
Thanks again. i’ll try this again when i get home. i’m using core manager and have tried the yearless MAME one and majority of games didnt work…
this generally means you’re not using the right ROM set.
is there a way to identify a correct ROM set? trying to play the side scrolling beat em ups like Alien V Predator, Punisher, Captain Commando, TMNT etc.
it should be the “latest” afaik. i forget the exact version of MAME represented by the yearless retroarch core, e.g. https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroArch/comments/8p8rzq/what_is_the_latest_most_compatible_mame_release/
Hi There
Are there any plans to add other consoles to the supported devices? eg PS1/2, Gamecube or Xbox/360
Or plans to allow integration of RetroArch?
The latest release 1.3.0 seems to only allow one core to be installed at a time. If I select an NES core it downloads and adds the mapping to the retrocores.xml, but then if I select SNES it wipes the retrocores.xml and updates it with just the SNES mapping and no both the NES ans SNES mapping. It does the cames with all cores and only the last one downloaded ends up int eh retrocores.xml
This is fixed in 1.3.2 which should be available shortly. Sorry for the disruption!
I don’t understand. What files need to have a .nes extension? It doesn’t read the regular ROM zip files?
You need
Turns out 99.9% of the problem was that it didn’t dawn on me that this needed the zip files extracted! Realizing this I made a separate folder just for Plex ROMs with the zips extracted and so far GBA, N64, NES, SNES, and Genesis all work! Unfortunately, I have to have dups as my other way of playing my games on other devices prefers them inside the zip files.
So this is for anyone else having a seemingly unsolvable black screen issue.
I feel your pain on this one!
Thankfully I had enough room on my nas (and I’m not running anywhere near full rom sets) so keeping zipped and unzipped versions wasn’t a headache
New updated core manager shows Picodrive as tried and tested for Sega emulators… Just tried on my server and Picodrive has no video, only sound for Megadrive/genesis.
Windows Server 2019
Nvidia GTX 1050ti 4GB Windrush OC (latest drivers)
Plex version 1.21.4.4079
Looking at my own testing sheet I had it working on Windows but not on Mac.
However I no longer it working in Windows. I wonder if there is some kind of situational issue or if something broke in 1.21.4.4079 (the last time I saw it work I was still running 1.21.3.4046).
