Coronation Street double episodes

Hey, I am trying to use plex DVD to record coronation street, it records the first one episode of the day fine, but doesn’t record the second episode, different times, same channel. Any help I can give please ask

I have the same issue with reruns of marvel’s agents of shield. They run two episodes back to back. the Program guide only lists the first one and as such the DVR only records the first one. it is strange because all other EPG providers I have checked (WMC, TitanTV) show this show is back to back… What can be done?

it’s a known plex bug, atm nothing you can do.

Ok, now that DVR is out of beta has this been fixed? (No, no it has not!!) anyone know of a workaround?

If you had a second computer the only thing I can think of would be to setup PMS DVR on that computer solely for that one show. As part of post processing for the show move the recording to the library on your primary PMS out of the libraries for the second PMS. With the recording out of the library perhaps Plex would think it has not recorded the first show and record the second one each day. Only thing I can think of to make Plex record both episodes. Hopefully the episodes are not back to back or this might not work.

This is still an issue for me is there a fix yet??

No fix yet…

This is actively being worked on at the moment

Today’s Beta Release 1.11.3.4793 has changes to address multiple episodes on the same day and will hopefully resolve most of the cases. (I say this reservedly because the information available for multiple episodes may not actually have identifiable differences.)

  • (DVR) Episodes of the same show that air on the same day now record correctly (#6668)

does not fix issue, devs have been made aware.

A further change has been released today in version 1.12.2.4929 beta

  • (DVR) More fixes around recording multiple airings of a show on the same day (#6668)

This fixes the problem where only one episode was recorded.

There remains an issue with episode identification in the library and that is because of the lack of the detail in the Gracenote data. The airing time is used in this fix to label the episodes differently.

Thanks to @“Kings Media” for the additional user testing for this fix

Hi - I have the latest plex version on windows however still having issues with plex not being able to distinguish two episodes of coronation street or emmerdale aired and recorded on the same day.

Being able to record these tv programs is the main reason for me using a Plex subscription.

Kind Regards,

The only workaround i have found (as this issue seems to have been abandoned)

Create a new library, have the type set as TV and the agent a personal media
Deleted your Corrie/Emmerdale schedules
Crete the schedules but tell it to put the recordings in the new library created above

As this is a personal media library, plex will not look up on tvdb for the shows and just use the epg data, all episodes will be seperate not grouped as they do now

Not ideal, but it works

Hi all; so this is my solution that i’ve put in place for coronation street:

So i have my system do LOTS of post processing that is bespoke to my application however you can see the relevant file here:

So it uses the fact that corrie is generally at 7:30pm then 8:30pm work for it so it pulls the parts out. This ensures that 95% of the time it will work great but specials or when the olympics or anything is on well, that will be a BIG problem for the script. Any more information anybody has would be awesome and we’ll try to improve this bodge together!

Thanks @paulsalter , this has worked for me - for Coronation street. You don’t actually have to create a new schedule, just direct it to a location where it’s not pulling online info.

It’s still not ideal. I think it’s actually an issue with ITV and the EPG as it also doesn’t show the episodes as being “new”, like it does for BBC

I’ve just come back from holiday to find the second episode of Coronation Street is missing from my recordings, every day that aired two episodes.

So it looks like this problem has reared its ugly head again. Can anybody suggest a robust fix?

Thank you
