Coronation Street multiple episodes same evening.

So, after the latest update, my first 3 recordings have worked fine.

However, Coronation Street is often on twice (different episodes) in an evening with a different 30min programme between them.

Tonight the first episode has recorded at 7:30pm, but then it removed the 8:30pm scheduled recording. I can’t even seem to manually select it to record, it just says no upcoming episodes (I even tried to manually record that one episode).

I have it set to record new and repeat, so not sure what I can do to fix this?

It seems that Plex thinks they are both the same episode as it is just going by date?

It shouldn’t. It should pick up episode title. I routinely record back to back and time separated shows all the time. If you can see the scheduled recordings coming up, you should be able to click on them individually and see their separate names. All of that comes from guide data.
Side question… is there a chance that you’ve ever had these episodes in the past and watched/deleted them?

The episode title is the same for both episodes. The synopsis is different however.

I’ve checked tomorrow and Emmerdale will have the same issue.

See screenshot. Oh, and no, only started to record live TV today after the DVR fixes in the latest beta release. Previous to this recordings would always hang on 100%.

After the recording is complete, it seems to be assigned proper series and episode - but not in the scheduled recordings.

I would believe then that the issue is in the guide data, but I’ll wait for one of the heavy hitters to weigh in.

I don’t believe you can have two instances of the same file name existing at the same time. If you could squeeze in and rename the first one in the time gap, I bet it would work… but who wants to do that?

Yep, definitely seems to be a guide data issue - no idea how to work around that though.

Can I use something like schedules direct instead of gracenote? Although that’s more expense…

I guess I need to request that Plex add parsing of the synopsis to determine if an episode is different too? See below, only one episode per evening will be recorded, with no way to override.

I’ve logged this as a Gracenote EPG database issue.

Don’t suppose there is any chance of the above issue being looked into any time soon?

Plex DVR is useless to me whilst the above issue still exists. I don’t see the point of raising Gracenote issues if they just get ignored :frowning:

@elan In reference to the discussion on manual recording, here’s another place where manual recording would be a temporary ‘fix’ for a problem until the actual fix is in place. Not needling, just pointing out how useful manual recording would be. Thanks.

I’m having this same issue also, would appreciate a fix…

It’s been flagged up for more than 6 months now, so don’t go holding your breath. I gave up using Plex for DVR.

It is actively being addressed at this very moment.

Today’s Beta Release 1.11.3.4793 has changes to address this and will hopefully resolve most of the cases. (I say this reservedly because the information available for multiple episodes may not actually have identifiable differences.)

  • (DVR) Episodes of the same show that air on the same day now record correctly (#6668)

does not fix issue, devs have been made aware.

Yep thanks for trying it now seems to identify the recorded episode correctly as the first but not recording the second still so definite progress

Is there any update on this issue?

I have only been using the DVR for just over a week, and the way it ignores the second episodes of Coronation Street (and Emmerdale) is a bit of a show stopper

Not an easy issue to address but a lot of work is going on in development to address this. A number of changes are being made - lookout for the release notes text for future releases

Between this issue and the fact that my HDHomerun kept retuning itself automatically to the Welsh channels, I have returned the HDHomerun and just switched to using Freeview on my TV. It works great and I can stop tearing my hair out!

Hopefully it gets resolved for those that choose to stick with it!
