Second nightly episode disappears.

I have noticed a problem with the latest version of the DVR.

I live in the UK and I’m recording Coronation Street on a Monday and Friday there are 2 episodes aired, 7:30pm and 8:30pm.

Firstly to get the DVR to record all episodes on channel 3 (ITV 1 SD) I have to set the series recording to new and repeat otherwise future episodes are not flagged for recording.

On Mondays and Fridays the DVR recording schedule clearly shows that 2 episodes will be recorded, however when the first episode has completed recording the second recording on the schedule vanishes and it does not record.

The strange thing is that if I look at the program guide at the time the second recording should start the cover art shows the show starting in x minutes and it has the series link recording icon on the artwork.

Can anyone advise if this is a bug or how to fix this issue

Thanks

So a clean install on a fresh OS has not resolved this issue (I did do a data migration as per website)

The installation is now on Server 2016, i7 and 16GB ram and I have 2 HDHomerun freeview tuners attached.

Does it fail to record when you have 3 concurrent recordings and it starts the third recording on the 2nd HDHR? I have noticed a consistent failure in being able to use a 2nd HDHR starting with beta 4.

I don’t think so, I have other days where multiple recordings are happening and this does not occur.

In my case it seems to be related to this one series

I had an issue where the second HDHR doesn’t have access to the channel and I had to prioritize the recording above something that has a channel on the second HDHR for it to record.

I have noticed this problem as well.
Firstly I could not get a recording schedule set up at all until I selected new and repeat. At this point everything looked good as both episodes were showing up in the schedule for Monday and Friday with just the one on Wednesday. Only the first episode was recorded on Monday night, Wednesday nights recorded OK - I will see whether Friday records both episodes or just the first as Monday. I need this to work if I am to get my Wife on board using Plex.
To answer kandlg the only recodings scheduled were the Coronation street episodes as I am just experimenting at the moment. I am using an HDHomerun with the Plex media server running on a DS1511+.

this issue has been around for a while plex dev’s do not seem interested in fixing the issue.

I am now progressing your issue on the linked thread

Today’s Beta Release 1.11.3.4793 has changes to address this and will hopefully resolve most of the cases. (I say this reservedly because the information available for multiple episodes may not actually have identifiable differences.)

  • (DVR) Episodes of the same show that air on the same day now record correctly (#6668)

does not fix issue, devs have been made aware.

Wow, looky here - this thread “Second Nightly Episode Disappears” for Coronation Street is almost 1 year old. Don’t forget Saturday Night Live, NFL Football, and the Olympics. How many times has this same issue been rediscovered and ignored? But at least we have Plex VR instead of manual recordings which would let us work around the issue!

Looking for a couple of users to confirm the fix for this - I have a pre-release build I can make available
Let me know platform / OS

The fix has now been released in version 1.12.2.4929 beta

  • (DVR) More fixes around recording multiple airings of a show on the same day (#6668)

This fixes the problem where only one episode was recorded.

There remains an issue with episode identification in the library and that is because of the lack of the detail in the Gracenote data. The airing time is used in this fix to label the episodes differently.

Thanks to @“Kings Media” for the additional user testing for this fix
