The last time I updated Plex on my Synology, I did a “Manual Install” in the package center with the existing Plex server still running. I assumed the new package would just overwrite the existing one. But something went wrong and I had to manually uninstall the old Plex from the command line (killing the processes and removing the Plex folders).
Do you have to stop and uninstall the old Plex before you install the new package?
usually you don’t… when updating, DSM detects the package belongs to a running app and stops it before applying the update and performing the re-start.

Thanks for confirming this.
I installed the new version (without uninstalling the existing one) and it worked. So I don’t know what went wrong the last time I tried that.
