Trying to install update

Player Version#:1.13.4.5271
Trying to upgrade to version 1.14.1.5488 Clicking on the link it downloads, but I can’t figure out how to get it to install? What program do I use to Install it? I can’t seem to find the application in Plex.

You’re talking about updating the Plex Media Server running on your Synology NAS?

Manual Update

  1. Open the Synology admin page / Disk Station Manager in your browser
  2. Open Package Center
  3. Click Manual Install (should be in the top-right of the package center box)
  4. Click Browse and select the install file you have downloaded – this will allow uploading the installer from your PC to the NAS
  5. Click Next
  6. The Synology will now process the file and show package name (Plex Media Server and newest version (e.g. 1.14.1.xxx or 1.15.1 if you download the very latest public release) – click Apply
  7. If you didn’t check Run after installation in step 6, you’ll have to manually start the package after the installation is completed.

Automatic Update

  1. After opening Package Center you can click on Installed and open the entry for Plex Media Server.
  2. Click Auto-Update In the drop-down (run, open/stop/uninstall, auto-update)

Synology tends to be slightly behind so their latest version might still be at 1.14.0. Therefore I personally preferred using the manual updates when I had my Plex installed on the Synology.
