Correctly Matched TV Shows Not Downloading Artwork

Just wondering if anyone else has had issues with TV Series not functioning correctly recently? I have 2 new shows added to my TV Shows library that are not working as expected… I am on Plex Server Version 1.13.2.5102

2 shows I have recently added (Fraggle Rock & Flowers) have no artwork being downloaded even though the show description has been downloaded for each ok and the artwork is available on tvdb

I have tried re-matching and even though it finds the correct show no artwork is being downloaded I also removed the episodes from disk, refreshed and re-added..

Any suggestions?

ah, Many Thanks!

or you could try this for now:

I see other posts on here from the last week with folks saying “It’s back up” but it’s still an issue for me. I’ve tried on a Windows 10 based server and an OSX based server with the same results. I get all the metadata for the television shows except the images (posters/backgrounds/banners).

My com.plexapp.agents.thetvdb.log keeps showing the same cycle of errors:

My concern is that it seems to be working for some but not others, so now I wonder if there is something I don’t have configured properly and not even sure what to look for.

A Rumor is spreading that a Plex update to address this issue (if you believe that sort of Rumor), is in the works:

At this point it could be a combination of TVDB and Plex - so don’t be surprised if Plex is left chasing it’s tail (along with TVDB fixes/API updates) for a while. If Plex can make poor decisions regarding TVDB - it’s gonna happen:

While they are at it, perhaps they could put something in the settings that allows the “default” agent to be set. I am having great success getting the information from The Movie Database, but I have to unmatch and rematch every show individually. If I could set The Movie Database as default (or at least completely uncheck TheTVDB in the agent settings, I’d be fine.

I’m sure there will be a lot of “It’s your fault! NO! it’s YOUR fault” back and forth between them.

Nevermind, I found it. Doh!

Using TMDB for TV Shows may work, may work for a while, but ultimately is a bad idea. As a participating contributor for both TVDB and TMDB I can say without doubt, TMDB blows for TV Shows. It’s not really a mystery. TVDB has certain rules and standards for their TV Show listings… TMDB basically let’s any trashed listing through the gates without much consideration for rules and standards.

I’m sure there will be a lot of “It’s your fault! NO! it’s YOUR fault” back and forth between them.

I’m sure of that as well.

Again, I wouldn’t spend a lot of time making the big TMDB switch for TV Shows… you’ll obviously be reversing that decision very soon. You’ve already discovered how tedious that’s gonna be, so leaping into a decision that’s going to provide a lot of work now and a lot of work later to change it back is probably a bad idea.

When in doubt, always blame TheTVDB. It’s like they take pride in being the absolute worst.

I won’t make a permanent change. Like you said, TMDb is more of a wild, wild west when it comes to TV shows. But I don’t have an extensive collection of TV stuff so when TheTVDB is working again, I’ll just delete the library and rebuild it. In the meantime the wife is like “Where’s the pictures??? You just spent all that money on a new computer to use for a server and it doesn’t work!”

I see…

Well, I suggest you do whatever it is that keeps her half of your money/home/kids in the bank/neighborhood/home you have access to.

The Wild, Wild West… fitting description… here’s the theme song for TMDB TV Shows:

lol

Kept one show tied to the TVDB and refreshed it periodically. TVDB functionality is back up. Deleted my library and rebuilt it as planned and everything worked as expected.
