ERROR (networking:219) - Error opening URL 'https://thetvdb.com/banners/' for everyone or just me?

Title. New images not being downloaded, other metadata seems fine. Wondering if it’s just me or anyone else experiencing this rn? I’ve done the plex dance and restarted my media server to no avail.

EDIT: Please read the most recent answer by Kirua29! This actually fixes the issue rather than just changing things over to another system.

Yep. Also experiencing this. I believe tvdb api is currently DOWN

I’m having the same issue.

I’m now using The MovieDatabase as an agent for TV Shows…That agent handles TV shows as well as movies. TVDB seems to be down too often

I am seeing a number of these errors recently (only on TVDB Agents). Example -->
ERROR (networking:219) - Error opening URL ‘https://tvdb2.plex.tv/series/295778/images?lang=en

This has been repeatedly like this for about 4 days now.

Yes…this is why I just shifted agents to The MovieDatabase…it handles TV shows too just fine. TVDB is unreliable these days.

Got it working. So, I did the following:-

Tools Icon (Settings) | Server | Agents | Shows | TheTVDB
Move the checked ‘The Movie Database’ agent above ‘TheTVDB’ agent

For each show episode missing it’s metadata, click … | Refresh Metadata

Skynet3_NZ method did not work for me. I am still having the same problem

Follow-up
I use Chrome browser. When I put the URL from the example above , I see this →
{"Error":"Not authorized"}

I also see the same error when going to this URL:-
https://api.thetvdb.com/updated/query

I can see this has been an issue with the API over at TVDB:

It works for me as well.

Here’s what I had to do on a couple that had already been matched after doing the steps as described by Skynet3_NZ.

Select the … menu on the item that is missing data, fix match. Click search options, and drop the Agent down to The Movie Database, then hit search and pick the match.

That should sort you out.

Aslo “Not authorised” same problem here! Can not get artwork from TVDB :frowning:

Having the same problem. HTTP Error 403: Forbidden

Glad it is not just me.

Same problem, happens to all new shows I add.

Even when using The Movie Database I still get basically no results!

Hope the TVDB staff is okay, and the API comes online when they are ready.

I can only imagine how much strain it must be for someone when a service like TVDB goes down, as it’s used by thousands, even millions of people every day.

You may want to redact that screenshot a little.

At least it’s legal porno.

At a guess I’d say that once something has been matched by TVDB, when you try to refresh metadata (even if you’ve moved movieDB above TVDB in agents) it’s still trying to pull metadata from TVDB. If you go to Fix Match and choose MovieDB in there it should work, but that’s a major pain in the ass to do on each and every show. You may just want to wait til TVDB gets their ■■■■ together. Which, based on prior history, may be never.

Unfortunately, the suggestions offered by Skynet3_NZ and PlexBurst did not work for me. The images still did not load. Guess I’ll have to wait until the API is up and running again.> @PixelBurst said:

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, this only worked for some of the TV shows for me. I hope the TVdb API gets sorted out.
