Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna

Awesome, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the feedback. There were further fixes got released in 1.21.4.4054 to supplement the earlier changes

  • (DVR) Plex Tuner Service would sometimes shut down while Plex Media Server was still running (#12223).

In case anyone is still having this issue (which I still do), there is a simple work-around: after your system boots up, wait 5 minutes then exit PLEX server and restart. It will work fine. I tried everything (except a downgrade), including unplugging and plugging back in the Hauppauge Dual TV tuner, but no-go. Just restarting PLEX server works. My guess is it is a timing issue of some sort. PLEX Version 1.21.3.4046

I also have been getting issues will test that fix out, I guess an automated solution would be to setup a scheduled task if its windows server say 08:00am every day to restart plex service.

You might want to upgrade to 1.21.4.4054 or later, they seem to have fixed it on my system.

I checked for updates, but says " Version 1.21.3.4046 [ Check for Updates ] Up to date"

There have been a few beta updates since then, at least for Windows. I am currently on 1.21.4.4079. Make sure you are looking at the beta update channel. The setting is on the bottom of the Settings > General tab.

There was a fix in Plex Media Server 1.21.4.4054

  • (DVR) Plex Tuner Service would sometimes shut down while Plex Media Server was still running (#12223).

Current version available from https://plex.tv/downloads

I still have the same issue, running on plex 1.22.0.4163

Plex tuner seem to work correctly for a couple of day and then start failing which only a windows restart will fix.

Would need logs to start an investigation of the issues you still have on PMS 1.22.0.4163

Please run with debug logging enabled - see https://support.plex.tv/articles/201643703-reporting-issues-with-plex-media-server/

With debug logging already enabled, please restart the server to make sure we get fresh logs set created.

When the problem arises - note down the time and capture the logs zip
and attach with details when the issue arose and when was last successful tune

For logs download - see https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/

Thanks

Having the exact same issue here. Seems to be happening a lot lately, not sure what is causing the problem.

This is the error as returned in Terminal, but I’m not sure what it means:

If anyone can explain the above log error message and what it means, and a possible way to fix it, it would be much appreciated.

would need to put that in context to have it investigated. So would need the server logs when this arises and the time when this appears

What platform / server version?
What action being performed at the time

See the post above yours for logs
and please run on the current version which is 1.22.1.4200-c073686f2

(None of my scheduled recordings have worked recently). I am running the server on Windows 10, and mostly FireTV clients. Also does not work on web client.

Plex 1.22.0.4163

Plex Media Server Logs_2021-03-23_08-12-46.zip (5.7 MB)

I KNOW…Troubleshooting 101: I restarted the server, and it now appears to work fine. I’ll re-post if it shows up again.

I’m not sure if these two issues are related or not, but after about 10-15 minutes, I received this error message:

If I go back to the guide, and select the same program (watching live), it will run fine again for about the same time period, then it starts stuttering, (or is it buffering?), every few seconds.

Eventually it will give me the above error message. I have tried this on two different FireTV clients. One on wifi, the other Hard Wired. It does not seem to happen on the web browser, however, that is on the localhost.

Plex Media Server Logs_2021-03-23_10-27-18.zip (6.3 MB)

I have checked the signal, and I am getting 100% on the HDHomeRun Quatro. I get no buffering or other issues using the HDHomeRun app on either FireTV.

I am getting the exact same error. TV Tuner dies a few days after start of Plex. Plex restart fixes it, but then it dies again after a little while. And of course it usually happens when I am out of the house and I get an earful about this “stupid TV Thing” when I get home. I have tried to resolve this on my own but have been unable. What do you need from me to resolve this. This is the first error I am reporting.

Further to my last post, I am on Version 1.22.0.4163

Would need Plex for Android logs for this to go with the Plex Media Server logs

Looking at one of the Live TV sessions

For Android App log see Android, Android TV, Fire TV, Portal Logs | Plex Support

Would need corresponding server and app logs and indication as to when the live tv session was started and when it failed

Suggesr waiting for version 8.15 of the app if not available yet and reproduce with that or a later version (release note: Plex for Android - #380 by marekszulik)

I can see one failure here

Can you open windows Event Viewer and select Windows Logs and then System and then filter on Event IDs 4227 and 4231 and see when those arose

It tends to happen when scanning large libraries Movies, TV Shows

Upgrading libraries to the latest native in-line scanner/agent mitigates this as the scanning is in line and not in separate process. Also a fix to a curl bug will help reducing port usage by 66% - this is not yet in PMS and is expected in version 1.23.x. Also reducing the frequency of periodic scanning reduces the chances of running out of TCP ports impacting other tcp actions such as communications between the transcoder and the plex media server processes

See this article for making sure movies libraries are upgraded to the new in-line scanner Upgrading a Movie library to the use the new Plex Movie Agent | Plex Support

For TV Shows - the new scanner is still in beta - see [BETA] New Plex TV Series Scanner - Plex Media Server / Metadata & Adding Files - Plex Forum

For Music libraries still not updated to the in-line scanner see Upgrading Music Libraries to the New Metadata System | Plex Support

Could any of this be related to having my storage on an external HDD?

. I temporarily moved all my data to an external drive, in anticipation of building a dedicated plex server/NAS box. In fact, this all may be moot, as I have now migrated everything to a Lnux NAS. So far everything seems to be working fine.

I am having this issue also with the HDHomeRun tuner, Plex can’t connect to the tuner after a few days but I can watch tv via the HDHomeRun app just fine on multiple platforms. I thought it was an issue with my HDHomeRun as I had just bought it but after looking through the logs, they say it’s working fine and must be a Plex issue.
