Could Plex find an alternitive to The TVDB as a source of metadata

All good suggestions…

But for the life of me I can’t figure out why one would change the show’s year…
If it was wrong ok, a new show but one that they have all the season listings.
Has been correct for years, and it’s not just changing it once but over and over.
This issue started in the last year ever since the API was changed… Has someone figured they would screw with it’s users, Hell lets change the year and see who notices.

What about a new Plex user who is trying to get the metadata for the new show he loaded. Is the issue the file naming, structure, etc… would one think that the year was wrong?

Anyway it’s unlikely the TVDB will do anything other then remove my post over their again.

Just checked my post at the TVDB fourm…
It was moved to incomplete requests…

so I responded with;
The link to the show
https://www.thetvdb.com/series/the-twilight-zone

The link to season 1
https://www.thetvdb.com/series/the-twil … official/1

The link to episode 1
https://www.thetvdb.com/series/the-twil … des/119249

showing that the very first air date for the show is October 2, 1959

Thing is this isn’t my first go around…

It will now get moved to another category…
wanting something else, most likely they will want me to prove that the date they have listed for season 1 episode 1 is officially correct or something like that.

They don’t even believe their own data. then again why would they…

It’s people like you and me who supply that data, no official entity. People make mistakes and people have different opinions. That’s how communities work.
In that case the debate would be probably about the included special which is dated 1952. The whole series inherited the date from this, but you probably already know that.

But imho your request should center around that Tales of tomorrow stuff being wrongly added. But it is your request so do as you wish.

Agreed, but don’t use descriptive words about the Staff like:

Like I would…
Experience teaches that won’t go far…

Well sure. Especially since it probably wasn’t anybody of the “admin” team that added this episode but a user that f00ked it up. No need to yell at anybody because of this.

What good is that if they are just going to change it on the whim…
That one series I pointed out changed 6 times in the last year…

You seem to know better what’s going on on their side, but I see this as the fundamental challenge of such a community project where everybody can contribute. Sooner or later there will be trash introduced and then you have to find out where the trash came from and who is right on the end.
You think you are right but so is probably “Mr. Let’s add some specials that done belong here”.

Right or Wrong…

Adding anything to an existing show shouldn’t change data that is already there.
If that’s the case then no TV series is safe…

but that’s just my two cents…
.

If you want people to add stuff you cannot lock all series.
Still, as far as I know you can’t change anything at any time. Series that are finished cannot be changed normally, they are locked. So I don’t know what went wrong with your ancient series.

Edit:
Simple, it is not locked. Should I add a special from 1910 just for the lulz?
Edit2: too bad, the seasons are locked :frowning:
