Glad to see it’s not just me - I have had this issue for some time now on my Western Digital EX2 NAS - sometime back in May, I had to get new HDDs and even a whole new NAS - not only am I getting this “Unable to retrieve the play queue” on my movie library, even the music library is having similar issues - and has done so since May - I have, up until then, used a combination of my NAS, Plex and mobile data to convert my iPhone into the world’s biggest iPod in the smallest package - listen to music on the move - now no files will play at al!

Even scanning is taking forever - I think several of them have been scanned in several times!

I’m having this issue as well. It used to be a problem, got fixed for like a year then started happening again :frowning:

@BigWheel I know how to fix this issue. I’m happy to work with your iOS developer (for free) if you can get us in touch with each other. Basically it comes down to how the URL is formed. I have a Python script that corrects the malformation via a mitproxy Docker image. It catches the request and then fixes the URL and Plex properly returns the video to the client.

I think maybe the issue is Plex has problems when the file is too many folders or characters deep?

I’m having the same problem with iOS devices - iPads and ATV.

I have small mp4 videos in some of my photo libraries among jpegs. Trying to play one of this videos from the library view in iOS devices throws this error. Playing the videos from the Timeline view works but the Timeline feature is really messed up.

Please, Plex?

Same here on ATV and iOS on iPhone 6s.
French error message is : “la liste de lecture en attente n’a pas pu être récupérée”
Cant wait for a fix on next update !

Still an issue. Why am I paying $5 a month for this? Have never been able to get any downloads to work. Might as well go back to VLC

Same with PLEX 7.25 on iOS: “La liste de lecture en attente n’a pas pu être récupérée pour cet élément. Veuillez réessayer.” (Couldn’t retrieve the play queue for this item. Please try again.)
I can’t listen to my music anymore.
And this adds up to the download and sync features not working either…
Hope Plex can fix this shortly!

This issue was about Videos in a photo library which was fixed in a release about a week ago. You are getting this for music now? is it playlists or trying to play any song? Y’all mentioned downloads, is it only with downloaded items?

Bumping this. I’m experiencing the same issue as Rannal and can confirm that in my Movies Library with Plex Clients on iOS and LG TV fails with the error “Couldn’t retrieve the play queue for this item. Please try again.” when playing item from the beginning. Adding them to a playlist and playing them from there also works. I’m on server version: " 1.25.0.5246". Fingers crossed for a fast update push!

OK I am going to move the posts about the synced/downloaded items issue to a new topic. This original topic was about videos in a photo library and adding the music issue here is going to confuse things. Though the error message you are getting is the same it would be a different cause.

For those of you having issues with syned/downloaded items playback please post in here. Downloads not playing. Queue error or make another topic.
