My iPhone Plex app cannot connect to my Windows 10 Plex server (ver. 3.23.1). It has successfully connected to it many times over the past year, but suddenly it’s broken.
I have already tried restarting my computer, restarting my iPhone, logging out of the Plex server and the Plex app, then logging into the Plex server, then the app… nothing works. My PC is hard-wired (ethernet) to my router, and the Internet on my PC is working fine, as evidenced by my ability to post this question.
I tried the Plex help, and its only suggestions were to do the things I already did, then it recommended I try this forum.
Update / more information:
Error message I found in Plex log: “You are not currently part of a home” (think I saw a “404” in there too)
Plex server version 1.9.6.4429
“Web” version 3.23.1 (I posted this version originally above, not sure why the software gives two versions)
There are no PINs or additional user accounts.
I have secure connections DISABLED. Still doesn’t work. Changed it back to PREFERRED since all the forum threads indicate this should work just as well as the disabled setting.
My iPhone device is listed (“4.20 - Plex for iOS”) under Settings --> Devices. If I delete the device and log back into the app on my iPhone, it tries to connect again, and when I refresh the Devices screen, my iPhone reappears. So it’s definitely reaching the server successfully (rules out my router, firewalls, etc.).
I tried disabling logging and re-enabling it, deleting my device again, logging back in, and for some reason I can’t get the “You are not current part of a home” error message again (was hoping to post the error in more detail). Instead all I see are a bunch of entries like this:
