Server Version#: 1.30.0.6486
Player Version#: Roku app version 7.0 build 23
I have a DVR recording of a show, and when I try to play that recording on my Roku using the Plex app, it gives me an error: “Sorry, we couldn’t load the requested content”. Clicking OK brings me back to the previous screen, and the episode does not play. I can play the content using the Plex web app from the machine running PMS as well as from my phone running the Android Plex app. This only seems to happen with this particular show (SWAT on CBS), and seems to happen with every episode that it records. It also does not show up in my Watchlist / Recommended unless the episode was already started.
One potential complication is I recently (a couple months ago) switched the library the show was recorded in, and then switched it back. I didn’t have this problem before, but had it in the new library, and now have it after switching back to the old library. I made a similar library switch with other shows and do not have this problem.
I’ve attached the XML info for the show in question, as well as the logs from the Roku. I have the server logs, but am unsure which ones to attach here. There is not much in the Roku logs, but I tried to play the episode around 1623 Eastern time.
Do you have that show “flattened” meaning are you hiding seasons?
When you are focused on an episode and hit the Play button on remote ( rather than letting it play by clicking thumbnail or play button on screen) does it make any difference?
The library is set to show all seasons (and collections). I don’t see a setting to change it for an individual show.
It does not seem to matter where or how I play - pressing the Play button on the remote or pressing the OK button on the thumbnail / play icon. Trying to play from the Continue Watching on the home screen or from the show page in the DVR library.
While testing this, I discovered some new information / behavior which may be helpful. The episode currently shows up on my Continue Watching because I had watched it previously on my phone. When I select the episode there and press the OK button on the remote, it shows me a message “Content Unavailable. Sorry, we couldn’t load the requested content.” It has an OK button. If I wait a moment, the theme music for the show starts to play. Clicking OK brings me back to the home screen. Pressing the Play button on the episode (again from the Continue Watching on the home screen) shows me a message “Playback Error. There are no playable items.” It has an OK button as well, which brings me back to the home screen when clicked. If I wait, it doesn’t seem to play the theme music for the show.
If I navigate to the show in the DVR library, I can select the show and press OK on the remote; it takes me to the show page and the theme music plays. There is a Play icon, but pressing the Play or OK buttons on the remote gives me the same “Playback Error” message as before. It doesn’t display any seasons or episodes on this show page though, even though there is (at least) one episode on disk and in the library. When I view the show page for other shows in the library, it displays the season(s) available.
New logs are attached. I tried pressing the OK button on the remote first, and then tried pressing the play button on the remote. Both actions from the Continue Watching on the home screen with the episode selected, around 1452 EST. I also have server logs if you need them, just let me know which logs to attach please.
