Crashed HDD/Volume/PMS - need help reinstalling on a new volume

Hello!
I lost one of my HDDs with bunch of files and the PMS installation/db folder. I am essentially starting over and not getting the option to specify an install volume - currently only installing to volume 3.

The new HDD on volume 4 is in the Synology DX-517 expansion bay that I have since added. Does it need to be located in main DS920+ bay to be seen by the PMS install?

Fairly sure I was prompted to select a volume when I created the PMS originally and have seen screenshots that show the option to pick a volume.

Any would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Mark

I’m not a Synology expert I pinged some other folks they should reply when they are back online

First, you always have control over where the packages are installed
(in @AppStore on which volume – or to ask every time as I show here) .

On DSM 7, it doesn’t matter anymore where the app is installed or where the PlexMediaServer shared folder is. You can safely move the shared folder at any time you need to reorganize.

By default, the shared folder is created wherever the app code is installed.
When you want to move the shared folder, Control Panel - EDIT the shared folder → Select the volume you want it on. DSM will do the rest

Ahhh there’s where that setting is located… Also like the Edit mode to move PMS as well.

In the future, if you have the chance,

you’ll be far better off creating a RAID volume.

This way, a single disk failure doesn’t lose any data. You simply replace the disk and repair the array.
