Crashes, crashes, crashes since latest releases on WebOS and AFTV

Latest Plex release on Windows works, but LG WebOS and Fire-TVs crash constantly after startup until approx. 3-5 minutes into any content.

Is there a way to remove these latest releases and go back one release? Currently nothing works here.

Plex Media Server.log does not show any hint. I guess it must be a client thing.

Edit: Took an AFTV from a different room with an older Plex release. This release works as expected. From my point of view it’s definetely the latest release.

Same for me. First noticed about 3d ago. Hisense TV and FireTV 4K (non-max).

Crashes when browsing, crashes while watching. Screwy build for sure.

Edit: Confirmed issue on two separate devices; Both FireTV 4k (non-max) Build 10.19.0.1142
Issue not present on third device FireTV (3rd Gen) also Build 10.19.0.1142.

+1 also happening here on latest version Firestick 4K and family member’s firestick too. Started happening less than 1 week ago

Sometimes it will crash while going through menus / search, sometimes minutes after playing a file

Less than 50% storage used on the firestick, tried unplugging it all

I think you can download an older version here Plex for Android - #510 by PlexAndroidReleaser

e.g.

https://downloads.plex.tv/Kepler/kepler-armeabi-v7a-amazon-10.18.1.1096-e2b6172f.apk ?

Step 1: Disable Auto-Updates for Plex

To prevent the Plex app from updating automatically to the latest version:

  1. Go to Settings on your Firestick.
  2. Select Applications.
  3. Choose Appstore.
  4. Turn off Automatic Updates.

Step 2: Enable Apps from Unknown Sources

  1. Turn on your Amazon Firestick.
  2. Navigate to Settings from the home screen.
  3. Go to My Fire TV or Device.
  4. Select Developer Options.
  5. Turn on Apps from Unknown Sources.
  6. If you see ADB Debugging, turn it on as well.

Step 3: Uninstall the Current Plex App

  1. Go to the Settings menu on your Firestick.
  2. Select Applications.
  3. Choose Manage Installed Applications.
  4. Find Plex in the list and select it.
  5. Click on Uninstall.

Step 4: Install the Downloader App on Firestick

  1. From the Firestick home screen, go to the search icon and type “Downloader”.
  2. Select the Downloader app from the search results and install it.

Step 5: Download and Install the Older Plex APK

  1. Open the Downloader app.
  2. In the Downloader app, enter the apk download URL (tip: use a shortening URL website like https://t.ly)
  3. The Downloader app will download the APK file.
  4. Once the download is complete, the app will prompt you to install the APK.
  5. Click on Install.

Same issue here. Also was having probs with firestick 4k max loading my libraries consistently on 19.0. Sideloaded 18.1 (2 versions back) and all seems to be ok.

i beg you lol what link you put in downloader

or did you sideload by usb.

i used

https://downloads.plex.tv/Kepler/kepler-armeabi-v7a-amazon-10.18.1.1096-e2b6172f.apk

and shortened it to

https://shorturl.at/SH5U0

Brilliant thank you so much
, if you dont mind me asking i been researching how to shorten a url . is there a site you can use.

dont forget to turn off auto update

I used to use bit.ly but they require you to register now. shorturl.at worked for me.

Lifesaver and i just tried it worked perfectly. now i guess turn off update and wait for a new update. but im afraid to even do that. they proved that they dont test apks. whats not broke no need to fix i guess. thanks again

Happy to help! Now I have to do fun walk throughs of this for the family members I gifted firesticks to. At least the Windows player is now working smoothly again for me after months of jerkiness.

thats where the headaches comes in. maybe if enough users complain here they will push a quick update out

again im shocked this post isnt being flooded.

Been running 10.19.0.1131-beta and haven’t had any problems on my 4k max gen 1

ok but 10.19.0.1142 crashes on firestick 4k

Gen 2 here and it was intermittently not loading my libraries on starrtup on 10.19.0. This continued along with intermittent crashing and general weirdness in the latest release. 18.1 is very solid for me though.

Yup Plex has been unusable for me on my firestick.

Same here - FireStick 4k Plex (10.19.0.1142) restarts either on start or after 2-3 min of Play and is not usable
