Crashes - Error CE-34878-0

I have the same issue on occasion. When will they get this fixed. I have now resorted to using Playmemories Online to watch the same videos as I do on Plex with no issues. So until they fix it goodbye Plex.

Seven months later - I tried launching Plex (in preparation of the upcoming Arrested Development and Game of Thrones seasons) and to see if it has improved one bit but not at all. Exact. Same. Issue.

This is just pitiful.

Hi @Shalashaskaa,

The latest PS4 update seems to have worked. Mind you, I did make sure that my router’s firewall was forwarding the proper port that I have Plex navigating to. Also, I have “Allow Fallback to Insecure Connections” set to “Never”. Whenever I log in outside of my network through the web interface, I choose the “Allow Once” option. If I choose “Always Allow” it changes the fallback option on the server and that causes the crash issue on my PS4.

If you want, I can share my server’s library with you and you can see if that shows up on your console? If it loads fine, then it is a setting on your server’s end, not the PS4 app.

Let me know if port forwarding and setting the fallback to “Never” works for you.

Hi @K9Damien,

Following your workarounds seem to have worked for me. “Allow Fallback to Insecure Connections” was already set to “Never” but I did make sure the Plex port was on the Port Forward list in my router’s firewall settings. I’ve noticed a considerable increase in speed and have just tested playing a 10GB+ file on the PS4 app - the error did not return no matter what I did. Pausing, seeking, changing anything in any menu, browsing libraries etc. It’s all working now. I think you might have given me my normal life back lol. Now I can function like a normal person once again haha.

I will start using Plex again and post back after a few days if I so much as experience a little glitch in the app again. Thank you so much.

EDIT: For those wondering where to find the Plex port number, it’s on the Settings > Remote Access page of your Plex browser site.

So glad that you sorted it out, @Shalashaskaa!

Welcome back to the land of the living!

I think I fixed it on my PS4 !!
I opened Plex on my PC first and linked it to my Ps4 Plex app. (Keep PC app open)
started my Plex app (Ps4), and I opened Settings·> Video . and set it like this:

Local Quality: Original
Remote Quality: 4 bmps, 720p
Online Quality: original
Allow Direct Play: Unchecked
Allow Direct stream: Checked
Maximum H.264 level_ 4.1

Do not close your Plex app on PC.

And that setup is working for me. Have tested different channels and all good. It sometimes tries to freeze when starting a channnel, but it suddenly gets to load well. I am now watching great quality channels on my Plex PS4.

I hope it works for everyone.
