Create New Library - It never finds media

this has been happening since i started using plex. which goes back at least 10 minor versions, been using since 2020 ish…

I get things working. Then some time later I decide to add a new library. I add new media and scan. and it finds nothing. I can guarantee it is not a permissions issue. Files are on the same drive and have the same permissions as other files that plex currently can see.

In my experience there are 2 possible ways I fix this

  1. Completely blow away my PLEX server and start over…
  2. Spin up a completely new PLEX server and associate w my account. Create a library on the 2nd PLEX - then SOMETIMES - magically my old PLEX server sees the files.

either solution, in my opinion, stinks…

I have read every article that i can find, plus searched the internet. i just hoping there is some easier solution…

i have tried the scan, refresh metadata, delete library and recreate,
when i click scan library, it does nothing… its like the scan function gets disabled… because after i mess around and get it working, the scan option then does something, ie… you see the circle spin like something is happening…

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try on another computer. Sign in with your existing ID, Creatie a new server on that PC and see.

I think it could be corrupted plex files. (Index or something).

Show the actual file names, folder structure, as well as the selected scanner and agent settings for the library.
