How does one create a new plex media server in their account to claim for a new installation? I found directions online, but they’re outdated and reference options that no longer exist.
You do it like the first time around.
Install, run, then open the local web app from that new server.
Login to your Plex account, wait until you’re notified about an “unclaimed server” in your local network. Claim it.
Your web browser must be located within the same local network as the server. Your local network must be using an IP address range that is explicitly assigned as “private”.
Otherwise you must establish a network tunnel from your workstation to the server before you can claim the server.
Depending on the operating system, there are some special cases for claiming. Particularly when using containerization.
